Tour Itinerary
The Grooviest Outback Adventure around. We take you to the best of Australia's desert wilderness. The Flinders Ranges, the Old Ghan Railway, William Creek, Coober Pedy, Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), and Watarrka (Kings Canyon). Magnificent hiking and you get to swim in some sensational waterholes. Plenty of good, wholesome tucker, with vegetarian options.
Most nights you'll be sleeping under the stars in traditional Aussie swags. There are tents if needed. The underground dugout at Coober Pedy is a special bonus. Bring a sleeping bag, or hire one from us for $10.00.
* Fully inclusive: includes all touring and National Park fees, 6 nights accommodation, 6 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 6 dinners.
Day 1
We escape the city heading North to the Flinders Ranges. Passing through small country towns like historic Quorn. The Flinders Ranges has a huge variety of walks and depending on the time of year, you will have time to walk some amazing scenic trails or even swim in some secluded waterholes. Tonight we stay at Angorichina in the central Flinders Ranges.
Day 2
Destination Outback. We travel into the driest part of the Aussie continent, a short section of sealed roads then onto the Oodnadatta Track. We follow the Old Ghan Railway, stopping at Ochre Cliffs, Lake Eyre and Mound Springs before arriving at William Creek (SA's smallest town), where we'll set up camp under the stars of the desert.
Day 3
Taking an isolated track through the world's largest cattle station (Anna Creek), we head for the opal capital of the world, Coober Pedy via Lake Cadibarrawirracanna and the Dingo fence. Learn about the opal industry before your own time to explore the charms of the town or look for opals on your own. Tonight we sleep like the locals?underground.
Day 4
It's a big day driving up the Stuart Highway with several pitstops en route. Our goal for the day, Uluru (Ayers Rock). We set up camp at Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort), for nights four and five before watching the sunset over Uluru taking time to absorb the beauty and majesty of this place.
Day 5
A sunrise breakfast at Uluru, followed by the guided cultural walk around the base. Hear about Tjukurpa (creation/law) leading you to an understanding of the cultural landscape. Time will be available for those wishing to climb before visiting the Cultural Centre and then heading back to camp for lunch and a relaxing afternoon.
Day 6
We spend the morning at Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), hiking the magnificent Valley of the Winds followed by lunch and an afternoon drive to Watarrka (Kings Canyon). Camping tonight at Kings Creek Resort.
Day 7
A morning at beautiful Watarrka, through the sandstone domes and down into the Garden of Eden. Cool off in the waterhole before returning to camp for a feed. Then it's on to our final destination Alice Springs. Approximate arrival time 6.30pm.
