Tour Itinerary
DAY 1
Depart Adelaide approximately 7:00AM for our ABORIGINAL CULTURAL EXPERIENCE in the Northern Flinders Ranges, one of Australia’s most beautiful and rugged areas. Our first stop is Port Augusta, where we explore the Flinders Ranges and Outback in Wadlata Outback Centres Tunnel of Time.
Discovering its origins, the Aboriginal Dreaming and much more. After morning tea we head towards Wilpena Pound via Quorn and Hawker. From Hawker we visit Kanyaka ruins and Death Rock, if you are feeling energetic perhaps we can climb up to Yourambulla Caves where we can view some Aboriginal Rock Painting.
It’s then on to Wilpena Resort for our first night in the Flinders Ranges. Before dinner we stretch our legs on a peaceful bushwalk to Wangarra Lookouts which overlook Wilpena Pound.
DAY 2
Today we head to Iga Warta via Brachina Gorge- (This Gorge traces the geological history of the Flinders Ranges for hundreds of million years), to Parachilna’s Prairie Hotel for some Aussie tucker (optional). After morning tea we head to IGA WARTA, where we spend some time learning about the ADNYMATHANHA culture and environment.
Today we can also participate in a bush tucker walk and/or an Aboriginal art walk.This evening, after dinner we spend some time sitting around a campfire sampling traditional damper with quandong jam, listening to stories and music of the Adnyamathanha People. Overnight Iga Warta.
DAY 3
After breakfast we head to Paralana Hot Springs where water emerges at a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius from rocks containing Jasper and ochre. Nearby is Yudnamutana Gorge- one of Australia’s deepest gorges.
We also visit Stubbs Waterhole- an expanse of still water in a delightful setting reflecting the green foliage of gum trees and the blue the sky, set deep between towering steeply tilted layers of rock formed from the debris dropped by melting icebergs around 700 million years ago. Overnight Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary.
DAY 4 Depart Arkaroola for Adelaide via Chambers Gorge and Blinman. Our next stop is Sacred Canyon where we stretch our legs on a short walk into the gorge. Sacred Canyon is one of the major Aboriginal art sites in the Flinders Ranges. After lunch at Wilpena Resort we head to Quorn. Afternoon tea is at Melrose and then it’s on to Adelaide via the Clare Valley. Arrive Adelaide approximately 6:00PM.
