Surfers Paradise is almost as well known for its nightlife as it is for its beaches, and justifiably so too. Thanks to a mass influx of younger visitors over the past decade or so, the town is literally throbbing with activity after the sun goes down.
Yet, despite the fact that things get so crazy after dark, you can still enjoy a relatively cheap night out for a variety of different reasons. Firstly, your hostel will probably have passes and cards for the various pubs and clubs offering half price drinks, two for one, free admission or some other such bargain. If you don’t find them there, you are guaranteed to find various flyers and passes around town so don’t panic. Finally, quite a few places don’t even require flyers or passes. Happy hours, free admission for ladies as well as numerous competitions ensure that there’s always some establishment which will reward you with a free drink or two.
The most popular bars and nightclubs are generally centred around Cavill Avenue and Orchid Avenue but as the town grows so do the party zones so don’t be afraid to venture away from these streets either. And, once you hit the streets prepare yourself for karaoke nights, wet t-shirt competitions, pool competitions as well as a host of different theme nights.
Finally, for the best guides to what’s going on in and around Surfers while you’re there, your hostel will usually have excellent information. As well as this, however, there are numerous free weekly magazines including Look, Point Out and Wot’s On.
